Ancient Bridge Carrbridge

Carrbridge is located in the District Badenoch and Strathspey in the Scottish Highlands, about 10km north of Aviemore. The place is often called the gateway to the Cairngorms National Park. Carrbridge was formerly an important center for skiers, today the site plays in this regard only a subordinate role.

The main attraction in town is the old packhorse bridge over the Dulnain. The bridge dates back to 1717 and is the oldest bridge in the Highlands. Unfortunately, the bridge was in 1829 significantly damaged by a flood. The bridge has since been kept in good condition and should not be entered because it is in danger of collapsing.
