Atlantic Ocean Road Norway

The Atlantic Ocean Road is known as "The Road in the Ocean", with seven bridges that allow the road to follow the islands in the sea like a snake.

The Atlantic Ocean Road takes you on a unique journey near the mighty Atlantic Ocean. This National Tourist Route was opened in 1989 and is considered the most beautiful road trip in the world by some, thanks to the combination of modern engineering and spectacular natural surroundings. The road was chosen as a Norwegian construction of the century in 2005 and leads on a journey through moorland, fertile cultural landscape, weathered bays and islands.

For centuries, the ocean has been of great importance in Norway, both as a means of transport and as an industry, recreation and activities. In the communities near the Atlantic Ocean, the fishing industry has been of great importance for generations.
